My First Order

I first heard about Adore Me when I got an email from Influenster congratulating me for being chosen to receive the XO VoxBox. The Box would prove to take over a month to reach me (as I’m writing this I’m still waiting, but it should be here any day) but the email also had a link to get a free bra or other item from Adore Me so I decided to check it out. I’m not one to turn down free stuff!

Adore Me is a subscription lingerie website that offers a full selection of bras, panties, sleepwear, corsets, swimsuits and other items. A VIP membership costs $39.95 per month (or you can buy pieces individually at $49.95) and you can skip the month between the 1st and the 5th at no charge. They also offer unlimited exchanges and have a 30 day, no questions, refund policy if you forget to skip a month.

I’ve gotten my bras from Victoria’s Secret for years so I was a little nervous to buy one off the internet without a friendly sales associate to help me with the fit and tell me I look amazing. I took a minute to tell myself how amazing I looked in the mirror (let’s face it, the sentiment means more coming from me then from a sales girl who gets paid to tell me I’m beautiful) and set out to measure myself. The measuring itself was fairly straight forward, but the size, 42DD, seemed a little off. I’m a 38C at Victoria’s Secret and while there is some variation in sizes between brands, it seemed really odd there would be that much variation.  I decided to order a 40D instead and figured if it didn’t fit it would give me a chance to give their return policy a spin.

It took about a week for the sleek, black Adore Me box to show up on my doorstep. The box was lined with tissue paper and the bra (and panty it came with) were both neatly packaged in plastic bags.

The quality of both the bra and panty were excellent. I loved the detailing on the bra, especially the little bows at the base of the straps and in between the cups. It gave an elegant twist to the fun pink and white poka dot design. I chose the matching hiphugger panties instead of the thong because I’m not really a thong girl, if I’m being perfectly honest. The panties had a matching bow and adorable lace detailing.

Unfortunately, both the bra and panties were too big. The band of the bra felt pretty good, but the cups were gaping pretty badly. I was half expecting this, since I’d had to go down a couple sizes at Victoria’s Secret after being initially measured. The panties ended up being a size too big even when I tried them on over my normal panties, which I was fine with because I had to exchange the bra anyway and as per the size chart I had ordered the panties in a 3X, much to my dismay.

However, it seems that 40C is a rare size, at least on Adore Me, since they didn’t even have an option to search for bras in that size. I tried calling customer service and got a busy signal. Same thing a half hour later. I called back a few days later and got through on the first try and only a few minutes on hold. I forget who I talked to, but she was really nice and helpful, confirming that I needed to go down a cup size. She actually found that some bras on Adore Me do come in 40C, and set up me up for an email notification when they’re back in stock. She explained that to do an exchange I needed to request the exchange online and I would be given a code for a free item in the future, so I could wait for my size to come back into stock instead of ordering something else immediately.

The online exchange process was pretty straight forward and easy to follow. At the end of the process, however, I was greeted with a perpetual loading screen instead of a link to download my free return shipping label and code for a free item. On a whim, I went back to the main returns and exchanges page and found a record of my exchange, complete with a link to the shipping label and free item code. All I had to do was tape up the box and make sure I mailed in within 30 days.

All things considered, the whole process went pretty smoothly. There is always a risk of getting the wrong size when ordering online, especially with bras because they’re so fitted. As of right now, Adore Me hasn’t gotten 40C back in stock, so I think I’m going to give one of the Adore Me Sleep sets a try. They have a lot of really cute PJs and I’ve been needing a new pair for a while, so it works out. Whatever I get, I’ll be sure to review it.
