Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Review

Like many other women (I feel so old saying that somehow) I’m constantly looking for a foundation that will make my skin look flawless. I have combination skin with large pores and while my acne is 100x better then it was in high school I still deal with the occasional blemish and the dreaded acne scaring.

What I immediately loved about the Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced is that it’s a medium to full coverage foundation that’s formulated without all the harsh chemicals that you find in most mainstream makeup products. I like the idea of medium to full coverage foundations, but in practice they always end up looking cakey and looking patchy as the day goes on.

Did the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation live up to the claims?

Simply put, YES! I like to apply it with a wet Beauty Blender-type sponge that I picked up at my local Dollar Tree and I love how buildable the coverage is without looking too fake or cakey. I follow up the application with foundation and powder to finish my base complexion. And the best part is that it wears very evenly throughout the day! I wont lie and say it looks like you just put it on at 3PM (unless that’s when you like to apply foundation, of course), but the wear is even and not blotchy. I can also add more foundation and powder later in the day without the first layer caking up.

My only complaint is that the foundation oxidizes a little (gets darker once you apply it) and I’m in the lightest shade available (porcelain). It’s not too bad, but check out my video to see what I mean. I usually just compensate my going easy on the contour and bronzer, but if you are paler then me you might run into issues with this foundation.

Overall, I think it’s a great medium-full coverage foundation. I give it 4.5/5 stars, just because the lightest shade is ever so slightly too dark for me. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic product!

  1. I’m posting my first impression of this later and I had a bad cakey experience the first time around. I was able to help that a lot the second time by using a moisturizer that wasn’t oil free. I’m still trying to find a good combination of products to make this foundation look natural.
